Main market Yard, Sindi

The Market Committee has brought all types of food grains, soybean, gram (chana), cotton, tur, jowar, cattle, and other commodities under market regulation. The main market is located at Sindi (Railway) on land owned by the Committee, where the main market yard measuring 0.60 hectares is functioning on its own premises for market and headquarters purposes. The facility includes a grain market and a cattle market. In addition, a pledge (warehouse receipt) scheme is being implemented for the benefit of farmers. For storage of agricultural produce, godowns with capacities of 400 metric tons and 600 metric tons have been constructed. A farmers’ rest house has also been provided, along with accommodation facilities for farmers. The Committee strives to safeguard farmers’ interests by ensuring the sale of agricultural produce through an open auction system, proper storage of produce, accurate weighing, and prompt payment of sale proceeds. Effective monitoring of these activities is essential. The Market Committee has been implementing the Agricultural Produce Pledge Loan Scheme since 1991–92, under which pledge loans are provided for crops such as soybean, gram, and tur. Every year, farmers benefit from higher prices through this scheme. For this purpose, the Market Committee has constructed storage godowns for agricultural produce at both Sindi (Railway) and Seloo. As per the records maintained by the Market Committee, income of ₹3,81,96,110/- was generated during the year 2021–22 through market fees collected on various types of food grains, cotton, and livestock. Expenditure towards salaries of officers, employees, and daily wage staff amounted to ₹1,15,57,995/-.
